New technologies are transforming how we live, learn, work, and connect with one another — perhaps none faster than AI. It is reshaping how governments, companies, and communities operate. But the benefits of AI are distributed unequally, accelerating opportunity for some and holding it back for others. Millions of people lack the infrastructure, skills, and legal frameworks to take advantage of this technology.
At the same time, AI is fueling the spread of misinformation and eroding trust, creating new vulnerabilities in critical systems, and accelerating the development of autonomous weapons. As this technology continues to evolve, its implications could not be more profound.
Without concerted action to help countries build the foundations for digital transformation, new technologies like AI could deepen inequality and fuel dangerous global instability. The world must rapidly scale up efforts to share information, strengthen safeguards, and realize a positive shared digital future for everyone. Countries, international organizations, companies, research communities, and civil society all have a role to play.

The UN Foundation works to ensure that AI and digital technologies deliver on their promise by reducing inequality, strengthening safety, and expanding inclusion in global technology governance.
Supporting Global Cooperation
Working with the UN and Member States involved in the UN Working Group on Data Governance, Independent International Scientific Panel on AI, and the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, we support inclusive discussions, underpinned by the evidence and experience of key players, that build trust and strengthen cooperation.
Strengthening Networks
We connect governments, the private sector, civil society, and academia so that everyone has a voice in how digital systems and safeguards are built. Together, we help ensure that AI, data, and new technologies support opportunity, protect rights, and improve lives for everyone.
