Youth Solutions Summit, LA

In collaboration with the United Nations Human Rights Office and the Office of Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti, the United Nations Association of the United States of America celebrated the historic 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by launching its first ever “Youth Solutions Summit”. Through student-led conversations and collaboration with local community leaders, the Youth Solutions Summit provided a platform for students to present actionable items to address human rights issues affecting the Los Angeles area.

Topics that were addressed during the event included:

  • Gender equality
  • LGBTI equality
  • Homelessness
  • Immigration
  • Technology for social good

  • Kate Gilmore: Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights
  • Ambassador Nina Hachigian: Los Angeles Deputy Mayor of International Affairs

  • Shawn Kravich: Executive Director of the Snap Foundation
  • Dolores Huerta: Civil rights leader & Co-Founder of the National Farmworkers Association
  • Monique Coleman: American Actress & UN Youth Champion
