World Pneumonia Day 2018: Ten Years of Progress and the Path Forward

Washington, DC

Shot@Life and the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) of John Hopkin’s Bloomberg School of Public Health, will host a reception to celebrate the 10th Annual World Pneumonia Day. The event will present an opportunity to highlight the global fight against this leading killer of children, review progress made in the prevention and treatment of pneumonia over the last decade, and discuss the path forward as we aim to accelerate the pace of these lifesaving efforts.

Attendees will enjoy a cocktail reception, access the launch of IVAC’s new annual pneumonia report (featuring new methods of evaluating data through an equity lens), and hear from distinguished experts in global health. Speakers will include:

  • Kate O’Brien (Executive Director of IVAC, and newly appointed Director of WHO’s Department of Immunizations)
  • Stefan Peterson (Chief of Health, UNICEF)
  • Natasha Bilimoria (Director, US Strategy, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance)
  • Martha Rebour (Executive Director, Shot@Life) will moderate
