Our Future Agenda will be hosting four intergenerational dialogues as part of its global series, “The World’s Toughest Job.” These dialogues aim to clarify what the UN Secretary-General does — and why that leadership matters now.
The Secretary-General leads inside a system where authority is shared, constrained, and politically negotiated. This second dialogue focused on judgment — how influence is exercised when formal power is limited. It will also examine the importance of public voice, when quiet diplomacy preserves cooperation, and how leaders balance competing pressures while keeping pathways open.
