Last week, 10×10 – a partner of our Girl Up campaign – released Girl Rising, a film with a simple yet powerful message: educate girls, change the world. This feature-length film follows 9 girls from 9 countries, whose stories are written by 9 women writers from the girls’ respective countries and narrated by 9 actresses including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Salma Hayek.
This movie captures unforgettable stories from some of the toughest places on earth.
I hope each of you will take one of these steps to get involved:
1. Watch the film: Buy tickets and attend a Girl Rising screening near you.
2. Bring the film to your university: Campus screening toolkit.
3. Text GIRLUP to 27722:* Join the girl movement and donate $5 to the campaign. For a girl in a developing country, going to school is more than an opportunity to be educated – it can mean avoiding long work hours, staying healthy, and getting a job that otherwise would not be possible. Educating girls in developing countries transforms families, communities, and our world.
Rise up with Girl Up and take action today. Because together we are stronger.
