Much like how comic book fans have Comic-Con, people like me who live and breathe social media in the international development field have Social Good Summit and now Rio+Social. Nothing gets me more excited than using the power of social media, especially Twitter, to connect people and create social good that will have the power to shape concepts and ideas that will change the world.

This is why I am excited to announce that we will be hosting a twitter chat this Tuesday, June 12th to start the drumbeat leading up to Rio. Join the UN Foundation and their partners Mashable, Ericsson, 92Y, EDP and more as we discuss how social media can play a role in discussing some of the largest problems facing our world. We will be touching on subjects like energy, women and girls, global health, technology, youth and more!

The greatest part of social media is it allows all of us to have a voice — from a young girl in Kenya, to a mother in Georgia, to a CEO in Brazil — each person can make an impact even in 140 characters!

Please join us this Tuesday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and add your thoughts, ideas and voice to our growing global conversation on sustainable development and creating a better world.  Follow the chat, using the hashtag #RioPlusSocial and be a part of the future we want.

Make sure to tell your friends on Facebook and Twitter to join in the fun too!
