  • Giving more Children the Chance to Survive: A new United Nations report shows progress in reducing childhood deaths and calls for continued action. According to the report, the number of children dying before the age of 5 dropped from nearly 12 million in 1990 to an estimated 6.9 million in 2011 — but the UN stresses we can’t stop now.
  • And the Nominees are… Fast Company named the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA) as a finalist for its “Innovation By Design” award. Nominated in the “service design” category, MAMA provides vital health information to new and expectant mothers around the world through mobile phones.
  • What’s on the Agenda?: The Social Good Summit agenda is out – and it’s filled with three days of conversation among leading experts, innovators and activists about how to use technology and social media for social good. Speakers include Nick Kristof, Mira Sorvino, Jeffrey Sachs and more. You can register and check out the agenda here.
  • A Milestone in the Fight against Measles: On Wednesday, the Measles & Rubella Initiative announced that “Measles cases are at an historic low in the Western Pacific Region,” following an 86 percent decline in the region between 2008 and 2011.
