I woke up this morning eager to get my flu shot.
Why?  Thanks to a new partnership between Walgreens and the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign, getting my flu shot means a lifesaving vaccine will be given to a child who needs it.
From today through October 14, when you receive a flu shot or any other immunization at Walgreens, it will help provide a vaccine against polio or measles to a child in a developing country through Shot@Life.
I can easily visit a local pharmacy to get my immunizations, but millions of children in developing countries don’t have the same opportunity, leaving them vulnerable to devastating diseases like polio and measles.  In fact, a child dies every 20 seconds from a disease that could have been prevented by a vaccine.
You can help change that.  Visit walgreens.com/shotatlife to learn more about the “Get a Shot. Give a Shot.” campaign.
Already we’ve seen the power of this community.  Thanks to your online comments last month as part of Blogust, Walgreens donated more than 36,000 vaccines to give more children around the world a shot at a healthy life. You made this possible – thank you!
Now let’s keep the momentum going.  Visit Walgreens to get a flu shot and give a shot that will protect a child from a harmful disease.
