November 10 has been designated by United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education, Gordon Brown, as Malala Day, a day to celebrate a vision of a world in which every child can to go to school, learn and be a global citizen, and an opportunity to make that vision come true. Supporters worldwide are coming together to honor this special girl who has shown us just how important it is to continue to support the movement for adolescent girls.
Malala Day was created in support of her and the 32 million girls like her around the globe who are denied the right to an education. People around the world are taking action, and you can too:
- Send a message of hope directly to Malala and her family at GirlUp.org
- Use your voice and tell your friends about Malala and the ways they can promote education for girls everywhere
- Give to the Malala Fund, launched by Vital Voices and supported by the United Nations Foundation and Girl Up campaign, to provide financial support to educational initiatives for children around the world
Educating girls not only benefits families and communities, it betters our world. Together our voices count – and together our voices will change the world.
