Jem is Senior Director of Energy Access at UNF. In this role, Jem leads UNF?s Energy and Women's Health work, which seeks to expand the sustainable electrification of health clinics in a range of developing countries, as part of the organization?s broader engagement in the global Sustainable Energy for All Initiative. Jem brings to the Foundation more than ten years of experience in international energy development, including seven years devoted to energy access, with a focus on technical and analytical consulting on rural electrification and household energy planning, sector policy formulation, knowledge management and resource mobilization. Prior to joining the Foundation, Jem was the Senior Project Manager with Nexant, where he was responsible for managing and growing a multimillion dollar clean energy consulting portfolio across Asia for multilateral and bilateral development agencies, including USAID, ADB and the World Bank. Prior to that he worked for a number of years for UNDP in their global energy practice. Jem received his Master of International Affairs with a concentration in International Energy Policy and Management from Columbia University, and his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tufts University. Jem is originally from Turkey.
