#SayItWithScience

Scientists are certain that the climate is changing, humans are the primary cause, and it requires urgent action. The good news: There are solutions. Now is the moment to accelerate progress, rise to meet the climate crisis, and #SayItWithScience.

Why NOW

We are at a pivotal moment in the climate change fight. In 2021, all eyes were on the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) for indications that countries were ramping up ambition and making deeper commitments to cutting global greenhouse gas emissions. 2021 also saw the release of a major climate report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)—the gold standard of global climate science—followed by two more landmark reports released in 2022.

Now is the moment to align global responses to climate change with the best available science. And more than ever, we must commit to #SayItWithScience.

How to use this toolkit

It’s critical that we raise awareness about the threats of climate change and what we can do about it. As part of the #SayItWithScience and IPCC communities, you can be part of that.

Join climate advocates around the world in the call to listen to science and #SayItWithScience by sharing the graphics and social posts in this toolkit. By sharing, you’ll help:

  • Prepare the world for the IPCC Assessment Report
  • Combat climate disinformation
  • Promote scientific solutions to climate change.

Key Messages

  • We are not on track to achieve a climate resilient, sustainable world.
  • Global warming of 1.1°C has already caused dangerous, widespread disruption in nature and negatively impacted the lives of billions of people.
  • According to the IPCC, every increase in temperature above 1.5°C will result in escalating losses from climate change and damage to both nature and people – some of which will be irreversible.
  • The last decade has seen the highest increase in greenhouse gas emissions in human history. To achieve long-term climate resilience and sustainability and avoid mounting losses from climate change, we must both rapidly adapt to climate change and make deep emissions cuts.
  • We have a brief and rapidly closing window to keep the 1.5°C target within reach and secure a livable future – the choices we make in the next decade will determine our future for centuries.
  • Scientists have done their part. They have laid out the choices before us in no uncertain terms: drastically reduce emissions now or face insurmountable challenges later. Our shared future now hinges on whether our leaders listen to science and find the political will to act before it’s too late.
  • Learning more about what’s happening to the climate in distinct regions of the world and how that might change is now easy, downloadable, and interactive with the IPCC Interactive Atlas.
