The Social Good Summit partners, UN Development Programme, Mashable, 92nd Street Y, the United Nations Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today hosted WomenDeliver+Social Good, a unique dialogue between media experts, social entrepreneurs, and policy leaders about how digital media and technology can help create sustainable solutions for women and girls around the world. The event took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the eve of Women Deliver 2013, a global conference convening thousands of experts to discuss the health and well-being of girls and women. The event invited the questions and comments of people around the world through social media so they could engage with the leaders assembled in Kuala Lumpur and share experiences, ideas and best practices.
WomenDeliver+SocialGood served as both a special preview conversation before the Women Deliver Conference and the kickoff of +SocialGood, a new digitally based engagement platform that invites community members around the globe to connect with each other and discuss how technology and social media can positively impact the issues they care about. The partners announced during the event that the Case Foundation was joining them in supporting the +SocialGood initiative.

About Women Deliver: Women Deliver is a global advocacy organization that brings together voices from around the world to call for improved health and well being for girls and women. Launched in 2007, Women Deliver works globally to generate political commitment and financial investment for fulfilling Millennium Development Goal #5 — to reduce maternal mortality and achieve universal access to reproductive health. Building from the groundbreaking conferences Women Deliver convened in 2007 and 2010, Women Deliver harnesses commitments, partnerships, and networks to help prevent the approximately 350,000 deaths of girls and women from pregnancy- and childbirth-related causes that occur every year. Women Deliver’s message is that maternal health is both a human right and a practical necessity for sustainable development. Invest in women—it pays. For more information, visit our website.
