Every day across the globe, girls and women are subjected to appalling violations of their rights and freedoms that further entrench the pervasive inequality and harmful social norms that hold girls and women back in every part of life.

It’s against this backdrop that the United Nations Foundation launched #EqualEverywhere, a global campaign to call attention to deepening gender inequality and amplify the voices behind our collective movement to ensure girls and women can finally be equal to boys and men in all aspects of life.

“Equality is at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals — yet the UN estimates that it will take 300 years to reach gender equality with business as usual,” said Elizabeth Cousens, President and CEO of the UN Foundation. On the eve of the sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women, we have a clear message: We won’t stop until girls and women are equal everywhere.”

Brave advocates are striving to end discrimination and deliver on the promise of a gender-equal world. #EqualEverywhere elevates their stories — from corporate leaders paving the way for more women in the boardroom, to a grassroots activist fighting for transgender rights in Pakistan, to women helping their peers across Africa heal from trauma and find power in their own stories.

“Girls and women have a right to equal political, social, and economic power,” said Michelle Milford Morse, Vice President of Girls and Women Strategy at the UN Foundation. “Achieving that, and the benefits equality offers us all, will require more solidarity and less patience with the status quo. Equal Everywhere is a collective and fearless call for both.”

This year’s campaign asks everyone to stand in solidarity with girls and women by taking the #EqualEverywhere pledge — and to share their motivation for joining the global movement to end gender discrimination once and for all.

The 2023 edition of the UN Foundation’s award-winning #EqualEverywhere campaign is launched in partnership with AmerisourceBergen, Crocs, Essity, H&M Foundation, Pinterest, and Tom Ford Beauty. More information can be found at www.equaleverywhere.org.
