UN Foundation Announces Fellows for 2012 Press Fellowship

The United Nations Foundation announced today the journalists who will participate in the 2012 United Nations Foundation Global Issues Press Fellowship program in New York City. The fellowship will take place ahead of the UN General Assembly and during the 2012 Social Good Summit to provide the fellows with the latest information on pressing global issues, while offering unprecedented access to high-level experts and policymakers.

“There has never been a more pressing time to get the full story on global issues,” said Aaron Sherinian, Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications at the UN Foundation. “This fellowship will bring together a group of world-class journalists to explore a broad range of global issues from disaster relief to infectious diseases and provide the journalists access to the experts and organizations who are working on these challenges every day.”

The 26 U.S. and international-based press fellows will participate in a three-day fellowship, from September 20-22, and will also include access to the 2012 Social Good Summit. The Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders to discuss a big idea: the power of innovative thinking and technology to solve our greatest challenges by igniting conversations between a live audience in New York City and thousands around the world participating via Livestream.

With support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this fellowship is designed to foster participants’ understanding of the issues surrounding international development and global health, and will provide the exclusive opportunity for fellows to participate in on- and off-the-record issue briefings, roundtables, and conversations with experts and high-level officials.
