The UN Foundation is a proud partner of the #GivingTuesday movement. The Foundation is one of thousands of organizations coming together for what has come to be known as the starting point of what is really the giving season, not just the shopping season.
This year the Foundation is challenging people to think differently about what has come to be known as the shopping season. Rather than only shopping for stuff, the Foundation is asking people to shop for good. On #GivingTuesday, the Foundation will be catalyzing initiatives such as:
#GiveaGIF: GIFs are one of the most powerful means of expression on social media today. The #GiveaGIF campaign is an innovative and exciting way people can participate through social media in the #GivingTuesday movement. Using digital interaction in a new way, social media users around the world can share through readily available GIFs (or GIFs they create) what they care about, and inspire others to join the movement and share their own GIFs. This is a way to build awareness and to support digital advocacy on global issues.
#GivingTuesday Circular: #GivingTuesday will put a new spin on one of the holiday season’s most pervasive institutions—the newspaper circular advertisement. For decades they have been stuffed with sales, deals, door busters and things to buy but this year the circular will be filled with ways to give. Readers will find information on charitable organizations doing good around the world, along with instructions on how they can help.
Holiday GIF Guide: This #GivingTuesday, give the GIF of inspiration. The Holiday GIF guide takes a new and digital approach to a staple of the holiday season, allowing social media users to choose from a catalogue of GIFs or make their own, in an effort to raise awareness and spark action on the issues they care about.
