About the Global Mom Relay

The Global Mom Relay is a groundbreaking series of online conversations to share advice, stories and inspiration about motherhood. Led by co-chairs Arianna Huffington, Jennifer Lopez, Lynda Lopez, Elizabeth Gore, and Sharon D’Agostino, this virtual relay connects moms everywhere through the power of social media in support of the United Nation’s Every Woman Every Child movement to help women and children lead healthy lives.

As part of this relay, mothers around the world are mobilizing their voices and their social networks to raise the visibility of the stark statistics on women’s and children’s health: nearly 7 million children around the world will die from preventable diseases this year and every two minutes, a woman dies from complications related to pregnancy.

Each time someone shares a Global Mom Relay piece on Facebook, Twitter, or Email, or donates $5 or more, a $5 donation (up to $62,500 per week) will be donated by Johnson & Johnson and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to one of four initiatives that are helping women and children lead healthy and happy lives – Girl Up, the Global Alliance for Clean CookstovesMobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA), and the Shot@Life campaign.
