Co-hosted by Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of UNAIDS; Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel prize winning economist and professor at Columbia University; and Nísia Trindade, Minister of Health of Brazil. This event, organized by the Global Council on Inequality, AIDS and Pandemics, will draw attention to the need to keep inequalities at the centre of the decision-making processes on pandemic preparedness and responses. It will examine the social and economic drivers that perpetuate inequalities, which in turn hamper people’s ability to access health services and protect themselves from ill health.
