As the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 77) draws near, it is impossible to ignore how much is at stake for a world still scarred by the COVID-19 pandemic, only to be gripped by concerns over a global monkeypox outbreak, the food and climate crises and conflict in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Against this backdrop, Amref Health Africa, together with our partners, has curated several events to be held on the sidelines of UNGA 77. These have been designed to call attention to some of the world’s most pressing health and development challenges, including preventing the next pandemic, climate resilience and justice, robust health systems and universal health coverage, all of which are expected to take centre stage at the Assembly.
