A Breakfast Discussion: Vaccinations and GDP Growth

Washington, D.C.

A short paragraph summary of the event that includes the key details, attendees, and any other pertinent information on the event: The UN Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign and Pfizer will host breakfast session to discuss the interconnection of health and economic performance.

The event will launch the publication of “Vaccination and GDP Growth Rates: Exploring the Links in a Conditional Convergence Framework.” This new study assesses how changes in childhood vaccine investment impact a country’s gross domestic product (GDP), and presents the discovery that by improving a country’s childhood vaccination rate by even a mere 1% will show measurable improvement in overall economic growth.

Two champions of global health, Martha Rebour, Executive Director of Shot@Life and Jim Wassil, Vice President, Patient Health and Impact from Pfizer, will discuss how this research can help frame the decision about how much to invest in childhood vaccination programs in low and middle-income countries and the economically meaningful and long-lasting effect of vaccines on economic growth.

Guests will enjoy a complimentary, hot breakfast served at 8:00am with programming beginning at 8:15am.
