During today’s Rio+Social event coinciding with Rio+20, the historic UN conference on sustainability, world leaders are convening to address the earth’s biggest sustainability challenges. But you don’t have to be a world leader to join this important discussion about the future we want. Thousands of individuals like YOU have contributed to our “6-Minute Speech Project,” sharing your visions and solutions for a better world. Here is a sneak peak at some of the solutions our supporters like you voiced to let world leaders know how to shape the future you want.
So where did the idea of the 6-minute speech come from? At the last Earth Summit in 1992, a modest yet brave 12-year-old girl named Severn Suzuki stopped the world when she expressed her concerns and hopes for our planet’s future. Her speech stirred thousands of people to take action.
20 years later, we have the chance to do this again – to empower people all over the world to commit in taking action to resolving some of the major sustainability issues our world faces.
Thanks to social media, never before has so many people been connected to each other. Through the power of technology and social media, each of us can add our voice to the important conversation happening in Rio.
Continue the dialogue and share the idea that resonates most with you using your social media networks.
