Celebrate Women Around the World

As we celebrate International Women’s Day and the important contributions of women and girls everywhere, let’s also take time to act.

Worldwide, millions of women and girls experience violence and discrimination and are denied an education, essential health services, and economic opportunities.

To change the status quo and turn challenges into opportunities, we must speak up for the rights of women and girls everywhere. When women and girls are safe, healthy, and empowered, they can help families and entire communities realize the potential of a brighter future and a better world.

Here are some actions you can take today to support women and girls.

• Donate to the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women.

• Share this card with an inspirational woman in your life.

• Join Girl Up and bring Girl Rising, a groundbreaking film about the power of girls’ education, to your local movie theater.

• Thank members of Congress for passing the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013, which includes provisions to make ending child marriage around the world an official priority of U.S. foreign policy.
