No matter how you pronounce GIF, people on both sides of one of the internet’s most heated debates have galvanized around a common cause – #GivingTuesday. On November 29, Twitter and Facebook feeds were filled with #GiveAGIF posts where people shared GIFs that ranged from the fun (featuring a favorite Christmas tree bandit, the Grinch) to the more serious infographic-style GIFs. Throughout the day, the GIF file format, normally reserved for interpersonal interaction was leveraged by celebrities, businesses, and charitable organizations to support their favorite causes and raise awareness of global issues.
