Expert: Young Leaders for the SDGs
Inés Yábar is a changemaker, storyteller, and community builder, and served as the United Nation Foundation’s Lead Next Generation Fellow from 2022 to 2024. She has been leading, sharing, and supporting sustainable solutions for over 10 years. Her changemaking journey started at 15 years old, reducing poverty in her home country. At 18 she led a national beach cleanup in Peru which resulted in a law establishing a single-use plastic bag ban. At 19 she co-founded an NGO “Ensemble pour TECHO”, now part of TECHO.org, which continues to serve the most vulnerable in Latin America. Her journey has focused on youth-led solutions to education in Sierra Leone, assisting with the refugee crisis in Lebanon, sharing her love for nature with Children in Japan, and guiding social entrepreneurs in France. She has also served online as a mentor, championing solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals around the world. She has been recognized as a Stellar Storyteller by Canva, an eco-hero by CNN, and as one of the 100 Women Leaders by UN Women. Inés now serves as "Expert: Young Leaders for the SDGs" with the UN Youth Office, leads volunteers through Global Shapers Lima, a World Economic Forum initiative, and is a board member for organizations based in Peru, the Netherlands, and Kenya.
