UN Foundation Announces Susan Myers, Elizabeth Gore and Aaron Sherinian as New Vice Presidents

New Foundation Leaders Focus On Innovation And Connecting With New Generations Of Partners To Help The United Nations

The United Nations Foundation today announced the promotion of three members of its senior leadership team to the rank of Vice President as the organization continues to build innovative partnerships with the UN to help solve some of the world’s biggest problems. This latest move is part of a set of strategic personnel steps aimed at increasing the impact of the Foundation’s campaigns, programs, communications and successful advocacy work around the globe. The announcement included the promotion of Susan Myers, Elizabeth McKee Gore, and Aaron Sherinian to the rank of Vice President in the organization.

Susan Myers will become the UN Foundation’s Vice President for UN Relations. In this role, she will continue to lead the Foundation’s New York operations and will serve as the principal liaison to UN agencies and representatives.  Her responsibilities will include leadership of special programs that bolster UN efforts in areas ranging from women’s and children’s health to peace and security.

Elizabeth McKee Gore is the UN Foundation’s new Vice President for Global Partnerships. She will direct large-scale partnerships with global corporations and organizations to bolster support for UN programs. She will continue to lead strategic grassroots efforts such as the innovative Nothing But Nets and Girl Up campaigns and the upcoming Global Vaccines campaign, and will manage partnerships with members of the UN Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurs Council and with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Aaron Sherinian was named the UN Foundation’s Vice President for Communications and Public Relations. He will manage communications strategy, implementation of press relationships, online and social media engagement and the full range of public outreach activities for the organization.

Foundation President Timothy E. Wirth said of the announcement, “The world needs a bold new generation of people to join with the UN as part of a smart, healthy and peaceful tomorrow. I’ve asked the senior leadership team to help us find innovative, entrepreneurial ways to bring these people to the table and help the UN make a positive difference around the world.  Susan, Elizabeth and Aaron are an important part of that equation.”

About Susan Myers

Susan Myers has been named the UN Foundation’s Vice President for UN relations. Ms. Myers has served as Executive Director of the New York office of the United Nations Foundation since 2000. As a member of the Foundation’s leadership team, she provides overall guidance and participates in the development of long-term strategy for the organization.

Previously, she served as Legislative Director of the Better World Campaign, a bi-partisan, non-profit national education and outreach effort dedicated to enhancing the awareness of and appreciation for the vital role the United Nations plays around the world. In this position, she led successful campaigns for the payment of over $1 billion in U.S. arrears to the UN and for the re-entry of the U.S. to UNESCO (the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) after an 18-year absence from the organization.

About Elizabeth McKee Gore

Elizabeth McKee Gore has been named Vice President of Global Partnerships for the UN Foundation. Mrs. Gore has served as the Executive Director of Global Partnerships for the United Nations Foundation since 2006. In this role she directs successful initiatives such as Nothing But Nets, Girl Up, a $150 Million campaign for malaria programs and the Global Fund, and a multi-million dollar partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Prior to joining the UN Foundation, Mrs. Gore served as the director of development and corporate relations for the Points of Light Foundation. There, she facilitated the development department by successfully fulfilling yearly financial needs of the organization. In tandem, she created a new fund-raising model for the Foundation through corporate cause marketing, connecting the Volunteer Center National Network with corporations and financial partners. Her consulting experience includes the implementation and launch of The Great American Bake Sale, an anti-hunger initiative for Share Our Strength, ABC television and Parade magazine.

About Aaron Sherinian 

Aaron Sherinian has been named Vice President for Communications and Public Relations for the UN Foundation. Mr. Sherinian has served as Executive Director of Communications and Public Affairs for the United Nations Foundation since 2009. He has led the Foundation’s public relations efforts, media relationships, strategic outreach, and online presence. Before joining the UN Foundation, Aaron Sherinian served as Managing Director of Public Affairs for the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a U.S. government development assistance agency administering poverty reduction grants totaling over $7 billion in 40 partner countries. In this capacity, he oversaw the agency’s strategic communications portfolio, media relationships, and public relations agenda. His experience includes a decade of service with the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer specializing in economic issues and public diplomacy.
