Sahar Wali

Sahar Wali serves as Communications Director for Strategic Climate and Energy Initiatives at the United Nations Foundation (UNF). She came to UNF from Fenton where she served as Vice President for the firm’s environment, clean energy, and political advocacy accounts. From 2009 to 2011, Sahar served as a senior communications strategist in the Obama Administration, most recently as Communications Director for the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), and prior to that as Associate Administrator for Communications and Marketing at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). In these roles, she led message, media, and outreach strategy for the President’s environmental, sustainability, technology, and clean energy initiatives. Her background includes non-profit, political campaign, congressional and corporate communications work. Sahar has served as Communications Director for four members of the U.S. House of Representatives. In the private sector, her PR experience includes work for the construction, clean energy, global logistics and airline industries. Originally from Texas, Sahar studied Political Science at the University of Houston, speaks fluent Urdu, and transitioned into cause-based communications in 2005 working to help send medical care to Pakistani children injured in the earthquake. She lives with her husband in Washington, DC.
