The UN Foundation partnership with the Vodafone Group Foundation (VGF) began operations in October 2005, with a £10 million commitment from VGF matched by £5 million from the UN Foundation to support UN causes.

The Partnership leverages Vodafone’s core strengths – its mobile technology, global infrastructure, and capacity for mass consumer outreach – with the UN’s scale, mission, and human capital. Its goal is to support activities and manage initiatives that use technology tools to help the UN address the world’s toughest challenges more effectively and efficiently.

In pursuit of this goal we currently are engaged in the three programs:


Flickr slideshow: Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF) simulation exercise
TSF ran its annual two-day training session in Pau, south west France on April 9-10, 2008. The simulation exercise prepares volunteers for deployments when telecommunications are required in disaster recovery. All photos credited to Cliff Saran, Computer Weekly.

Mozambique Floods - TSF keeps relief agencies online
A crew of emergency telecom specialists from Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF) is currently in Mozambique to strengthen aid agencies helping victims of the floods in the Zambezi River valley. The team deployed on Saturday 2 February from TSF’s headquarters in France.
