Global
efforts to promote quality health care for
all have resulted in significant progress
during the past several decades. In most
parts of the world, people are living longer,
infant mortality rates are decreasing, and
illnesses are being curtailed as families
become healthier, economic and social progress
reaches more countries, and access to basic
health services improves. Despite significant
accomplishments, innumerable obstacles stand
in the way of achieving worldwide health
goals and, unfortunately, many of the challenges
are most profound for the world's greatest
hope for the future - our children. The UN Foundation is working with
several UN Agencies to ensure that all
children have the means and the opportunity
to develop to their full potential.
The following are our major priorities:
•Decreasing
Childhood Mortality Through Community Based
Programs.
•Immunization:
Using extensive partnerships to strengthen
the public health infrastructure to control
infectious diseases.
•Preventing
Tobacco Use.
